Co-sponsors Bridget Brigitte, Jim Beggs & Jennifer Evans

On Thursday, May 13, 2004, a very special event took place at Humphrey’s by the Bay in Point Loma.  Co-sponsored by Mermaid’s Journey and Bridget Brigitte, this event, billed as “Music for Life”, was a six-and-a-half-hour concert to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

During the evening, many outstanding local bands performed.  In addition to the co-hosts, the lineup included Terren Trousset, Ki’s Guys, Dora Hall, Simply Complex, Alpha Ray and The Gandhi Method.  The evening was a lot of fun and very successful, as a sizable donation was raised for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

In addition to Mermaid‘s Journey‘s involvement in “Music for Life,” lead singer Jennifer Evans trained for four months with the L&L Society’s Team-In-Training to run the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon (a full 26.2 miles!), which she completed in 4 hours, 35 minutes.  Combining the pledges Jen received for her participation in the marathon with the monies raised at the “Music for Life” concert, a total of over $4,000 was donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

We hope this will aid in some small way the search to find a cure for these challenging forms of cancer, as well as inspire others to raise money and donate as well.
